O estudo investiga como as características demográficas de sexo e idade influenciam o medo do crime no Distrito Federal. Utilizando dados da Pesquisa Distrital de Vitimização (2015/2018), foram analisados 28.168 respondentes com modelos lineares mistos generalizados. Medo do crime se revelou maior entre mulheres do que em homens, aumentando moderadamente com a idade. Contudo, a relação entre faixa etária e medo do crime apresentou efeitos pouco expressivos. Flutuações anuais no medo do crime sugerem influência de fatores contextuais, como instabilidade social e cobertura midiática. Apesar de baixos índices de correlação com crimes violentos, mulheres demonstraram maior vulnerabilidade percebida, influenciada por contextos sociais e culturais, como o efeito da “sombra da agressão sexual”. O estudo evidencia a necessidade de abordagens intersetoriais para mitigar o medo do crime, considerando dinâmicas sociais, emocionais e políticas públicas que promovam segurança objetiva e percebida.
