Armed forces and policing

This essay focuses on two questions about the use of the Armed Forces in policing: "Should the Armed Forces be used in public safety?" and "What are the consequences of such use?" To these is added a third question - "So what?" -In this essay, we consider the internal use of the Armed Forces and the external use of the police, the duplication of military and police training, the provision of all necessary resources to the police to dispense with the Armed Forces, and the regulation of their action in policing. The essay is centered on the police mandate and its conceptual, political, legal and organizational implications.
