MENTAL WORK LOAD IN CASH-IN-TRANSIT GUARDS IN A CITY OF PARAÍBA

Cash in transit guards are exposed to working conditions that affect directly their mental workload and their health. In this sense, this research had the objective of quantifying mental workload in cash in transit guards, raising possible factors associated with mental workload, and identifying differences among their functions. This is a quantitative and cross-sectional research, conducted with 57 guards that responded to NASA-TLX and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Salary, robberies, violence and noise were cited as generators of dissatisfaction among workers. The mean value of the overall mental workload was 83.24 (s=14.91), and the “mental demand” was the subscale that presented the highest scores. Drivers had significantly lower scores among cash in transit guards. Based on the findings, it is necessary to implement actions regarding the mental health of cash in transit guards in order to mitigate the consequences of the activity on their health.
