Efectos de la exposición a medios violentos
una revisión sistemática de la literatura (2012-2022)

El artículo analiza sistemáticamente la literatura empírica sobre medios de comunicación y violencia de los últimos diez años. Como parte de un informe más amplio, el texto se centra en 35 artículos que han analizado los efectos de la exposición a contenidos violentos. A pesar de los diversos niveles de solidez, esta literatura muestra que la exposición a contenidos violentos tiene una serie de efectos nocivos y duraderos, especialmente entre los jóvenes. Entre ellos se encuentran el comportamiento agresivo, los trastornos mentales, los cambios cerebrales, el empeoramiento de los hábitos de sueño y alimentación y la alteración de las percepciones. El texto también intenta documentar qué políticas y factores de protección pueden utilizarse para mitigar estas externalidades negativas. Los resultados sugieren que la exposición de los niños a la violencia mediática tiene varios efectos nocivos, como comportamientos violentos y agresivos, estrés postraumático, ansiedad y depresión, entre otros.
