Asociaciones entre la reincidencia en prisión y las experiencias laborales y educativas durante la privación de libertad

Resumen

Este ensayo investiga el impacto de los programas laborales y educativos en las tasas de reincidencia de los reclusos liberados de las prisiones de Santa Catarina durante un período de casi cinco años. Se utilizaron tres métodos para analizar la reincidencia y controlar el sesgo de autoselección y la heterogeneidad inobservable: emparejamiento por puntuación de propensión, modelos de Cox y modelos de fragilidad. El modelo de fragilidad mostró que la participación en programas laborales y educativos reducía las probabilidades de reincidencia en un 14% y un 32%, respectivamente. Este estudio sugiere que hay programas en marcha en Santa Catarina que pueden tener un impacto efectivo en la rehabilitación de los presos.
